How Goes It

Hello, hello!  It’s been a few days!  I haven’t really felt like sitting down to write much, so.. I didn’t.  We’ve been keeping busy, as usual.  I kind of think I don’t know what I’d do if we didn’t have a jam-packed calendar.  Thankfully it’s mostly fun stuff!

Buddy is having surgery today, again.  Watching your dog get old is really not fun.  He has an ulcer on his right eye and we tried treating it with antibiotics and a serum made from his blood, but it didn’t get any better so his veterinarian removed it this morning.  He’s sending it off to the lab to ensure that it’s not cancerous, so keep your fingers crossed that it’s benign, pretty please!

Here’s a run down of what we’ve been doing for the last week and a half.  Last Saturday I ran the Wine & Chocolate 5K (recap coming!) with some of my girlfriends.  It was so hot and miserable, then the bottom fell out.  Sunday we spent the afternoon at a friends house celebrating her sons 7th birthday.  I have no clue how our boys are 7 (almost for B), that’s insane.  Kenz got to hang out with her “sister” all day, so she was in Heaven.

Speaking of Kenz – how stinking cute is she?  I really need to get in the habit of taking pictures with our nice camera instead of the cell phone all the time.  Also, I know Pop-Tarts are awful.  Thanks to Daddy introducing her to them though, that’s ALL she ever wants for breakfast now.

On Wednesday of this week, I chaperoned a school field trip to the zoo.  Thankfully a lot of parents volunteered to go, so we had small groups – I only had Braden and one other little guy in mine.

We had a blast, but Braden’s buddy had a hard time keeping up with us.  Apparently we like to go, go, go and he’s more of a take it slow kind of kid.  After lunch time, he kept asking to go back to the bus, but we still had two hours.  Hopefully he didn’t go home and tell his parents about the mean chaperone that wouldn’t let him rest – I promise we took lots of breaks!

Friday night, Braden’s Cub Scout pack had their advancement camp out.  The plan was for me and Mackenzie to hang out with them for dinner, their astronomy activity, and s’mores and then come home since I had a race the next morning.. but she wasn’t having it.

She insisted that she was camping too, so she did.  Looks like I’m not going to be able to get out of the camping trips this fall!  I headed home alone (which was weird, I think it was my first night totally alone in the house since we’ve had kids..) and Adam was a rockstar with both kids at the campout.

Saturday morning, I was up early to run another 5K.  As soon as I was done, I headed back to the campsite (with coffee!!).  The pack had a few fun events planned before we all headed home.  One was a Cubonopolis, where each den made a race car out of a cardboard box, then raced around a track.  They had to stop after each lap for a pit stop (wheel change = take off your shoes and socks, then put them back on // clean the windshield = spray water on your goggles, then wipe it off // refuel = drink water out of a cup with a straw).

It was adorable and hilarious and chaotic. The kids seemed to love it 🙂

One of the things I really love about Braden’s pack is how they really want the families to be involved, so the siblings had their own team and made a car too. I think they forgot to measure and make sure the car would work for the smaller ones, because once Kenz got it on, she couldn’t walk. Thankfully Daddy & Mr. Eric were there to help.

Braden totally crashed during one of his laps.  I wish I had a picture of it, because it was actually really cute, but I ran to make sure he was okay when it happened so I didn’t get one.  When it was his turn, he got going too fast and the front of his car dipped down and tripped him.  He did a face plant in the grass with his feet over his head.  As soon as he hit the ground, he yelled out “I’m good!”  Typical boy.. all the moms were running to check on him and he thought it was hilarious.

Shortly before lunch, we packed up and headed home. We ate and took naps, then spent the rest of the weekend relaxing at home, which was a much-needed break! I’ll be back later this week with recaps of the Wine & Chocolate 5K last weekend and the 210W Challenge 5K from this weekend.

I hope your Monday is off to a great start!

    1. Thanks, Abby. Buddy is doing much better now. The cone-of-shame is driving him nuts though, so I can’t wait ’til he gets his stitches out on Monday!

The kids do keep us really busy – it’s fun running around with them.. most of the time 🙂
