2015 Marine Corps Half Marathon

For as long as I’ve been a runner, I’ve been told that the one race you want to avoid running in Jax is the Marine Corps Half. Not just from one person, but from nearly every single person I know that has run it in the past.  The main complaints are the terrible weather (it’s hot and humid!) and that the end of the course is brutal.  You run up a pedestrian bridge, over the rail road tracks, then have to run down a spiral ramp.  Then you run, in full sun, along the river.  That part sounds nice, but not when it’s 85 degrees in full sun! 2014 Space Coast Half Marathon

Ahh the Space Coast Half Marathon. AKA my slowest race ever. First, before we even talk about the race, look at these splits: 5K – 35:33,  10K – 1:16:07, 15K – 1:57:02, Half – 2:48:12, Average Pace – 12:51  — Yes, that average pace was even slower than my first marathon here last year. And you know what? I’m 100% okay with that! READ MORE

2014 Bainbridge Half Marathon

Every time I start to write a race recap, I want to say it’s one of my favorite races. I feel like I say that about all of the races.. perhaps I just like to run races? Who knows. Last year, I went into pretty great detail about the Bainbridge Half Marathon so I’ll spare you this year. If you’re not familiar with it though and you’re anywhere near South West Georgia, you may want to check it out. I posted lots of pictures of the course last year and it’s really pretty.  Adam was running the half this year too, along with my cousins Drew and Celia.  Technically I guess Celia is my cousin-in-law.  She’s married to my cousin Daryl, but I like her so I claim her as my own 🙂 READ MORE

2014 ZOOMA Florida Half Marathon

I’ve been looking forward to this race weekend since August, when I applied to be an ambassador for the ZOOMA Florida half marathon.  A weekend away with some of my girlfriends, eating at yummy restaurants, running a half in a gorgeous location, an after party old and new friends, lots of wine, massages, yoga, and awesome swag.. who wouldn’t?? 2013 Disney Wine and Dine Half Marathon

We’ve been looking forward to the Disney Wine and Dine Half Marathon since we signed up for it at the Princess Half Expo in February.  It was our first time leaving both kids for more than an overnight with our parents, I’ve never been to the Food & Wine festival, and running another Disney race?  Definitely a recipe for a wonderful weekend with my husband, right?  Right.  Or not. 2013 Bainbridge Half Marathon

Bainbridge will always have a very special place in my heart.  I’ve never actually lived there myself, but it is the town where my parents grew up and most of my extended family lives there now.  It’s the place we visited countless times throughout my childhood, and since I was a Navy Brat, it was the one place that always felt like home.  A few months ago, my aunt told me that they were doing a half marathon to benefit the local hospital & nursing home, I really wanted to sign up.  The hospital is where many of my family members are born, where I spent a lot of time hanging out with Mama Carra (my great-grandma), and where I said goodbye to my Papa Merk and Granny Moore.  The race was also held the same weekend as my Granny’s birthday, which made it extra special.  I was a bit gun-shy to sign up since I’d never run a half, but right after we returned from Orlando, where I ran the Princess Half, I signed up and couldn’t wait! 2013 Disney Princess Half Marathon

I kind of don’t know where to start with my recap of the Disney Princess Half Marathon, so forgive me if my thoughts are scattered all over the place.  I was really worried about the early race time, I thought there was no way I’d be able to get to sleep early enough to feel well-rested for the race.  I didn’t get to bed quite as early as I’d like, but I think I was finally out by 9:30PM and surprisingly slept until my first alarm went off.. and then the snooze.  Have I mentioned that I’m not a morning person?
