It’s time to go back to school! I’m sitting here wondering where the summer went, it seems like it just started and it’s already mid-September. Braden is in 2nd Grade and Kenz is in Pre-K this year. It’s kind of bittersweet – this is our last “first day” at the school the kids have been at since they were infants. Next year they’ll both be in elementary school.
Today was one of those days where I just looked at my kid and wondered how the heck I got here.
I’m a little late on this post (story of my life these days!) and part of the reason is because I couldn’t figure out what to say.
I’m not sure how this happened, but it is the last day of school. This year has absolutely flown by, I feel like it should still be January. I can’t believe how much the kids have grown in the last year – I guess when you see them every day it’s hard to notice, but looking at pictures from the first day of school compared to the last day of school, it’s crazy.
At the end of the month, Braden will graduate from Pre-School. I’m not quite sure how this all happened so fast, he’s still supposed to be my itty-bitty baby (except he was never itty-bitty). I’ll spare you the mommy melt-down for today though, but be sure to expect it next week when he graduates.. and next month when he turns five.. and then again in August when he starts kindergarten. Consider yourself warned.
I have lost my mind, clearly.
Last week, I grabbed a March calendar from the table as I was leaving the kids school one afternoon. I try to remember to enter everything into our google calendar for the month and set up reminders for the day before and the morning of events so I don’t forget. I’d love to be one of those moms that has everything together and remembers every little thing, but I’m not. I’m lucky that I remember to brush my hair in the mornings most of the time. Weekday mornings are pretty much chaos around here with me trying to get myself and the little ones dressed.
The kids school does a Christmas show every year and it is beyond cute. Toddlers up on stage, singing and dancing? Love it!
Every year, the kids school hosts a Thanksgiving lunch so that parents can come in and eat with their kids. I was a bit worried about it this year, since we have two kids and you know me, I didn’t want to miss out on anything.. but thankfully, they were scheduled on two different days. I’ll admit, I was a bit hesitant about actually eating the lunch.. one thing I definitely do not miss about school is eating school lunches.
Braden’s class had their third field trip today, this time to the Jacksonville Hand’s On Museum. I didn’t blog about the second field trip, because I didn’t go. It was to a pumpkin patch at a church and I hear it was a lot of fun. I decided I should probably give the other parents a chance to chaperone and skipped it. I regretted it the entire day, I kept thinking about how much fun he was probably having without me. Yes, I’m one of those moms. Oh well! Anyway, I didn’t want to miss out on another one, so I signed up to chaperone as soon as they posted the request. I’m glad I did, we had SO much fun!
