Last month, in early October, one of my dear friends got married at the Guy Harvey Outpost Islander Resort in Islamorada, in the Florida Keys. You’ve seen Jess in several of my running posts and if you’ve been reading for a while, you may have even heard us chatting with the Another Mother Runner ladies on their podcast last year. Jess was friends with my husband in college and she’s one of the many wonderful people that came into my life when we got together.
We spent Monday at Hollywood Studios. Miss Mackenzie insisted that she needed a pair of sparkly Minnie ears.. and.. well.. we can’t say no to her.
We packed up this morning and headed south, to the most Magical Place on Earth! We decided after taking Braden to Disney for the first time, that we wanted to do an annual week(ish) long trip in November.. the weather is great and there were hardly any crowds. We skipped it last year since Mackenzie was so tiny, so we’ve been looking forward to this trip for a while!
So, I totally sucked at picture taking today. Oops! Adam and I are freaks of nature and were up early and went out for breakfast at Ess-a-Bagel for breakfast.. holy freaking deliciousness!! It was a LONG walk, but worth it 🙂 We took the subway to Battery Park and stood in line in the freezing cold, windy weather to get on the ferry to go check out the Statue of Liberty. It was cool to see, but I don’t know that I’d go back.. it was a LONG wait and was kind of anti-climatic. She’s huge, bigger than I expected, but you can see it all from the boat or across the water!
Adam didn’t have to be ready to do the best man thing ’til 2ish, so we spent the morning wandering around and sight-seeing a bit. We were total touristy nerds, but we had a blast. We had breakfast at a little diner just off of Times Square, then headed to the Rockefeller Center to check out the view from the Top of the Rock.
We’re in NYC for Carter’s wedding!! He’s getting married tomorrow night at the Crowne Plaza at Times Square. I’ve never been to NYC, so I’m super thrilled about the trip.. not so much about leaving Braden behind, but he’s with my parents so I know he is in good hands. I only cried a little bit when we took off and when we landed. Mommy guilt is killer, I tell you! Here’s the view from our room on the 39th floor.
We got up this morning and headed over to the Cape May Cafe in the Beach Club resort for a farewell breakfast with some of B’s favorite characters before heading home. It was delicious and Braden loved it. Definitely a nice end to our trip – we can’t wait to go back!!
We started our last full day at Disney at Hollywood Studios. We really wanted to take Braden on the Toy Story ride and they were all out of fast passes last night and there was no way we were standing in line for nearly two hours! We got there when the gates opened for the extra magic hours (for resort guests) and Adam made a bee-line for the fast pass machine while B and I made some new friends.
